The blog for the next couple of weeks (my goal is each day for the rest of the year) will cover a concept of Behavior Design, Behavioral Psychology, or something of similar relevance to why we do what we do and how a person can go about consciously creating systems for changing behavior and achieving goals. I will cover topics of motivation, triggers (those pesky things that interrupt our days or the more subtle ones like billboards or environmental cues that go mostly unnoticed), Rewards and Feedback, Success and Failure.
I will be tackling these giant concepts in small bite sized packages both to keep my ideas clear and coherent, but also for the reader to be able to see meaningful ways in which this concept plays out in their daily life just like I have.
This week, I will be starting with Motivation. The reason I want to start with motivation is because it is one of the most misunderstood, yet widely used and accepted strategy for behavior change and habit formation. I look forward to having you join me on this journey. Tune in tomorrow for a short study of the cycle of motivation.
Best,
Andrew Zimmermann
