Where do we see this:
Facebook, twitter, instagram, Google, and many others (including online dating/dating apps) are based off of this key intrinsic motivation of curiosity and seeking. When I don't know something, I google it. When I have a fear of missing out, I check Facebook to see what my friends are up to. Many times, our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter feeds have mundane ordinary things, but our curiosity keeps us scrolling until we find something interesting. That is the reward that keeps us coming back.
What can we do with this:
We need to put curiosity back into our lives. If you watch a kid, they are curious about everything around them. They are constantly asking "Why?" or "How?" they are exploring and seeking out novel things in their environment and it is fueling their learning. We can do the same things as adults. Take a curious eye towards your day to day interactions, look for patterns, try to reinterpret your mundane environment from different lenses. Instead of just taking facts and knowledge for their face value, try to understand them at a deeper and more connected level. When you find a way to be curious (even about the most mundane things, you will be much more motivated to take action)

Andrew
